Sumpton Opticians is an independent practice located in Ilkeston.
The practice was established in 1890 and Mr Sumpton has owned the practice since 2007.
A wide variety of spectacle frames, lenses, and contact lenses are offered and patients are looked after as individuals with ample time being provided during consultations to discuss their eye care requirements.
Mr Sumpton has been awarded the College of Optometrists' Professional Certificate in Glaucoma and the Professional Certificate in Low Vision, and continually strives to keep up to date with all aspects of Optometry. Additionally, Mr Sumpton is currently studying for the Independent Prescribing qualification, which will allow him to prescribe medications to treat a wider variety of eye conditions.
The practice offers the local NHS Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS). This is a scheme intended to reduce the burden on the Hospital Eye Service by assessing patients with certain conditions in the community.
Sumpton Opticians also provides the Derbyshire Low Visual Aid service. This is an NHS scheme provided through Sight Support Derbyshire and provides low visual aids on long term loan to those with visual impairment.
